Jenny wrote aggressively researched essays that landed her in Advanced Placement.
Jane, Jenny's younger sister, liked playing "I'm going to get your bone" with her beloved whippet.
Jenny brushed out her gloriously long hair every night until it shone like redemption.
Jane did little with her hair, but when she was bored, she allowed Jenny to "clip and trim."
Jenny became the youngest girl ever chosen captain of the Quiz Bowl team and took her high school to the state semifinals.
Jane would not pretend that she had not heard their ancient, tall, and talkative neighbor call her name, and she would laugh at the same stories he had told a hundred times.
Jenny was admired by her family, her teachers, and several of her friends.
Jane was happy. Which worried her parents.
