20 Questions Interview
with Sherri Snyder
continued from page 1
I go out of my way to meet more artists, continue to be involved in the artists community I was accepted as an artist member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society and the Attleboro Art Museum, and exhibit regularly.
I have blended my passions and have been provided Women and Creativity Workshops, Women's Empowerment and Spiritual Growth groups which weave teachings of Tara Brach, Kelly Rae Roberts, Eckart Tolle, Shari Gaynor, Rod Stryker and others into the group. 2010 was the year we built the studio/shop (Hattie's Country Store), where I can create, invent, grow herbs, be inspired, and allow others to learn and watch me at work.
11. What challenges have you faced?
Time balancing my passions with "real life responsibilities." How do I balance all passions, family life, chore, art-making,
relaxation time
Financial constraints.
12. What worked for you?
Making time for yoga helps to keep me centered, reading about other inspiring women who have followed their spiritual and creative paths! To you, I am grateful!
13. What didn't work for you?
Not much I just keep going, see where my energy needs to be on a given day and not fight it. When I feel over extended, it reminds me to pull back, re-charge.
14. What three tips can you share with those starting on a similar path?
Follow your heart, meet others with like-minded energy, don't give up when it gets tough, make time to be creative (not just to make art to sell).
15. What are you working on now?
I have been on a "Peace Flag" kick. Each flag is actually mini-collage, filled with inspirational quotes, small watercolors, and other collaged items
pieced together
to create a flowing "Peace Flag". One will be in an exhibit in Putnam, CT in September 2011. I am also sewing handbags...But I usually am working on several projects at the same time, one inspires the other and continue to fill my studio/shop with inspiring arts.
16. What's coming up for you in the next year?
I will be participating in an Artist Open Studio in November, 2011, end of November 2011 and Arts Show at the Providence Convention Center (RI), an art show at the Attleboro Art Museum in 2012, and in August 2012 I will be participating in a group art show at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. In between, continuing to create, paint, collage, paint gourds, facilitate the Women's Groups.
17. What else do you desire/dream to do?
Keep doing what I am doing. Hopefully my shop/studio/gallery
will become better known. I would love to facilitate more "creativity" workshops as well as spiritual/empowerment groups which weave
the arts through them
18. How will you make that happen?
Advertising, word of mouth, talking, sharing.
19. What question do you want to answer that's not on this list?
N/A
20. What's your Web site address?
I have several websites (by the way, which I created):
9/20/11
